We have been in the food service industry since 2012. Our first venture was in the university town of Karnataka, Manipal Udupi. We were the pioneers of pancakes and waffles in Manipal. The café soon became a favourite amongst college students. However, due to certain unforeseen circumstances we closed down the place.

Since then we have ventured in providing catering services to friends and family. The hope of starting another café or restaurant always kept us awake at night.

Pune being a foodie crazy city we knew we had to make sure our food was delicious as well as easy on the pocket.

Finally in 2020 amidst the pandemic panic , we got the opportunity to start a Maharashtrian Snacks Centre. We started Chatak Matak Food; serving Vada Pav, Misal, Pav Bhaji, sandwiches, cold coffee etc. We worked in the kitchen and we took care of customer service at times handling the entire place without any staff just the two of us.

We learnt so much from this experience about ourselves, about the food industry, customer needs and demands, customer acquisition, customer satisfaction etc.

We gained the confidence and decided to venture into full meals, lunch and dinner service. We started a small kitchen serving Maharashtrian thali. We were overjoyed about having two restaurants. But once again it wasn't meant to be. We faced harassment by some local goons and even after a police complaint and mediation by a local politician, their harassment continued. Our joy turned to ashes as both our restaurants were now closed as out staff was threatened. We took a step back, decided on our priorities, our life and that of our staff was more important and we took a drastic decision to close both our restaurants.

We had lost the battle but we weren't going to lose the war. We regrouped, gathered our resources and decided to start afresh. Thus through turmoil and pain and sweat and tears and blood was born Happy Da Adda.
